Is a Good Character Something We Need?

A good character now-a-days is a rare thing, don't you think?

The world is getting worse and worse at a rapid pace and from a quick skim of our social media news feeds, the newspapers, and television, we see that there's an overwhelming majority of people only have ill in their minds, including ourselves, because, let's face it, we aren't any better either. All this is unfortunately because not everyone has had the opportunity of having a proper moral education or a role model which or who teaches or models good values.

I admire a person with a good character. but what do we define as good character? Even though we may all have different views of it, I am sure we all can agree that a person with good character is someone who is respectful, patient, wise, loving, tactful, truthful and you can add many positive qualities.

One of the best things, in my opinion, in a good character is, strength and resilience in the face of any tough situation. If anything is more admirable in a person, it is their ability to remain true to their beliefs and values no matter what happens to them.

A good character does not come easy. It is mostly formed in the greatest of miseries and pain. People with such characters are admirable and quite rare, if you ask me, and hearing of someone with even basic humanity is uplifting to hear I am sure that it is the same for you, dear reader!

In appreciation for good character, I wrote this poem which you can read below:

I would that everyone have an opportunity to cultivate good values and beliefs. Surely, if everyone in the world, ourselves included, made an individual efforts even for just a day, I'm sure that the world would be slightly more happier and better than it was before. Don't you think so?

It is good to remember that while our individual choices, good or bad, may seem insignificant to us, they are extremely potent and can affect a whole lot of people!

The first stanza of the poem "Little Things" by Julia Carney, written in 1845, puts it wonderfully:

"Little drops of water
Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean,
And the pleasant land."

Here's my question for you: What do you think we try to be better people today? What can you do to make it happen?

Share your thoughts with me in the comments below. I'd love to hear your input 😄.

Thank you for reading ❤️!

See you in the next,
