There No Place Anymore for Diversity

Hey readers!
If you have read my previous post, you know that I have talked about how important having a good character is in a world that's going rotten. This week's post is also similar to it, although I will be dwelling more on the topic of diversity.
All around the world lately, we've been seeing an increasing amount of racism, communal riots, and violence in general. These things don't look good and to many people, it's painful to see, experience, or be a victim of such violence.
When I was in middle school, we learnt about the kaleidoscope in Physics class and we had to make one for our assignment. As you already know, they're made with glass pieces or transparent coloured beads and with some mirrors.

I really enjoyed this assignment and when I thought about it recently, I thought that our world and the people in it can really be compared to a kaleidoscope, and I wrote a poem about this comparison, which you can read below.
In recent times, in India, there has been much communal violence and discrimination. The most recent one has been in my state, Karnataka, and it targeted Muslim school girls who wore hijabs. Although they weren't hurt in any way as far as I know, it was still awful to see and hear of them not being allowed inside the school; being denied education solely because of their religious practises.
This goes against the Constitution and the Fundamental Rights. I don't think it would be a topic of discussion in court when the law clearly states that practise of religion is a Fundamental Right.
Similar things are going on around the world, but with race, ethnicity, colour, sexuality etc. People are hurting others on these reasons and it's almost as if nobody cares about preserving love and diversity. It is no problem when people disagree on certain subjects but it becomes a problem when differing opinions are used as a reason to hurt others.
Although this poem is just my wishful thinking, as a Christian, I know such a thing won't happen. In view of the prophecies in the Bible, the world will only get worse and worse, which is exactly what is happening, until Jesus comes.
But we should be doing our part too, whichever religion you may belong to, to spread genuine love and kindness to other people, even to people we call our enemies, every day. It may be difficult and we may not be changing the world as a whole, but we are at least taking baby steps toward making God, other people, and ourselves happy.
If we can't make the whole world change, we might as well make happy changes in our circles! What do you think we can do to achieve this? Leave a comment below; I'd love to hear your thoughts. Please also share this with your friends and family so they can start thinking about this too!
Thank you and see you in the next!👋🏽

ReplyDeleteYes, everything starts in our own family circle . What we are at home is what we will be in society. Let us in action do our part to make our home and society a beautiful nest for others, which will bring love and unity.
Well said 🙏
DeleteYou gave a very nice and appropriate comparison of our world to the kaleidoscope. So nicely written especially in a time when society is so volatile. May this message sink deep in the hearts of our citizens.
